Dr. Michalis Paraskevas is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Peloponnese, with known object “Signal Processing Systems, Broadband Networks and Telematics Services”.
His research interests relate to digital signal analysis and processing, information theory, detection and evaluation theory, next generation networks, machine learning applications in image and natural language processing, and the digital transformation of Education. He has published more than 80 papers in international journals and conferences, has authored 4 university textbooks, has participated in the organization of 3 international and 7 Greek scientific conferences and in more than 50 committees of international journals and conferences. His published work has collected more than 900 citations and has been cited in more than 70 patents.
Has thirty years of specialized professional experience in the design, implementation and operation of large-scale networks and e-government and e-learning services. He directs respective development and research projects, which have received national and international distinctions.
He was head (2019-2021) of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Peloponnese and director (2020-2021) of the laboratory “Data and Media” of the same department.
Today he is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Computer Technology and Publications “Diofantos” and coordinator of the Greek School Network.
He teaches the undergraduate courses “Signals and Systems”, “Digital Signal Processing”, “Information Theory”, “Statistical Signal Processing and Learning” and the postgraduate courses “Next Generation Networks”, “Advanced Educational Technologies” and “e-skills and STEM education” of the Postgraduate program “Technologies and Services of Intelligent Information Systems and Communications” of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Peloponnese. He also teaches in the course “Applications of new technologies in educational practice and education administration” of the Postgraduate program “Organization and Administration of Education” of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the University of Thessaly.
He is a member of TEE, IEEE and AES.
